Understanding  About  Aperture  in  Simple Steps
Aperture is the unit of measurement that describes the  size of  the  opening in the lens that can be used  to control the amount of light  reaching the digital sensor.
Size of Aperture – Large vs Small Aperture
aperture is a hole within a lens, light can pass through which to the camera body. aperture is expressed in f-numbers (for example f/5.6). These f-numbers also  known as “f-stops”.
("f" means focal ratio)
They are 2 kinds of f-stops
1. Smaller f-stop
2.Larger the f-stop
 Smaller f-stop
A smaller f-stop means a larger aperture, The size of the circle represents the size of the lens aperture
For example, f/2.0 is Smaller than f/1.4.
minimum apertures (highest f-number)
Larger the f-stop
A larger f-stop means a smaller aperture. maximum apertures  (lowest f-number)
aperture

Typical ranges of apertures
f-number is square root of 2:
f/1, f/1.4, f/2, f/2.8, f/4, f/5.6, f/8, f/11, f/16, f/22, f/32, f/45, f/64, f/90, f/128, etc.
